7 Year Well Visit

I took Leah to her 7 year well child visit! No shots!

She was : 116.2 cm tall, which is 15% percentile, about 3 feet 10 inches
22.10 kg, which is 41% percentile, 48.7 pounds

Here is some recent art & school work. I think the milestone is to be able to draw a person with 12 parts :) The family portrait, including Spark. I was confused about Leah's extra set of legs until I realized "Jamse" was standing up behind her.

This one might be sideways:

It looks like she had to illustrate the sentences:

And work on sight words. (Sometimes they call these "trick words")

There wasn't any math in her last Friday Folder, so I grabbed a screenshot of the ST Math app they use. I like the illustration of shoes per feet for beginning multiplication.

Here are some things Leah's working on and doing right now:

  • She knew our address & both parents full names, but not our phone number, so we worked on that in the car!
  • Still riding her bike with training wheels, but she seems close - maybe this summer!
  • Has a solid sense of time. She understands seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, seasons, and sometimes years.
  • Still a little bit of trouble with some sounds & pronouncing words correctly (R's and L's) but is mostly intelligible to strangers - sometimes I repeat & then they know what she meant.
  • Lost her first tooth!
  • Making a lot of friends at school & church.
  • Writing her name in cursive. Writes all uppercase & lowercase letters. Spells some things phonetically.
  • Reading quite a bit independently, still likes to be read to at bedtime.  Starting to read more chapter books, but still likes to look at graphic novels.
  • Likes very much to cook & chop things up!

Grandma's Birthday

Great-Grandma Doris turned 92 on Friday!

She got her hair done to celebrate & Aunt Tara & her friend Carla came up to visit & spend the weekend. We had cake & she got lots of flowers!

Aunt Holly bought trick candles (maybe!) they kept re-lighting.

It just tickled me to death that she was sneaking tastes of the frosting.

Lost tooth

Leah finally lost her first tooth two days before her 7th birthday!

It was helped along some by her bonking her chin with her knee whist jumping off the swings on the playground. She worried mightily about if for the whole 21 hours it was loose. She was especially concerned that it would come out during swim lessons and be lost in the water (which didn’t happen!)

This is what she looked like every time I tried to get a picture of the loose tooth (very alarmed!)

Waiting for swim lesson (still alarmed!):

It came out during lunch - of soft foods! I kept trying to get her to bite into an apple but she wasn’t having it.

We had a hard time trying to get a picture of the gap, too! She’s still talking a little funny, but enjoying drinking out of a straw!
