Writing

This is such a cool milestone -- Amelie has started to really sound out words and write sentences!

This one is from 10-21-15 (she transposed the date). It actually came home with a note from her teacher that she only got half of a word written during writing time and did the rest very quickly when it meant she couldn't have "choice time" - which is free play. I was kind of bummed that it didn't have a picture!

A butterfly uses its proboscis to eat nectar.

This one came home in her backpack & did have a picture :)

A butterfly lives in the meadows.
Sam thought it said "A turtle lives in the mountains," even though there's a picture illustrating it, so I thought I'd better add a caption.

Mac - When born he his mom took him to the zoo. He saw a zebra. He eats meat. Ferocious roar.

I'm actually not sure if that last word is "roar" or "dinosaur."

School Photos

They took school photos at James's preschool, too.

James Video

Now it's James's turn for a video. At supper, we try to share good things and not-so-good things that have happened to us over the course of the day. (Then the battery died and made the video a respectable length.)

Amelie Post

Amelie learned this song in Kindergarten and wanted me to make a video:

She also wanted me to paint her fingernails and take a photo:

I thought I'd seize the opportunity, since usually she is camera-shy.

School Picture

As I'm sure you know, Amelie is 5 now and in Kindergarten. We just got her school pictures back - I'm sending her with a stack of wallets to trade tomorrow.

My goodness, Amelie had several years of pre-school. For comparison,

4 years old, 3 years old, and 2 years old.

Haircut, After

These are the "after" photos, though I would like to snip at it a little more. I'm gun shy because of the big fuss it caused the first time, though.

My goal was to keep it long enough that it would curl up and be forgiving.

I saved a curl for his baby book.

Haircut, Before

I gave James his first haircut Thursday night. He'd never had any kind of haircut at all - he was bald for a long time and I guess it just doesn't grow very fast. Anyway, he'd been giving me grief about combing it in the morning and I thought the easiest solution would be to chop some off.

These are his "before" pictures.

He was not wanting to cooperate with sitting on the chair at all, even with Sam and Amelie there to distract him. We even broke out the phone as a bribe.

James started crying partway through - I guess at being forced to sit until we were done even though I'd been very patient with all of the wiggling around he'd done in the interim so I saved the "after" photos for the next day.
