Laumeier Sculpture Park

On our St. Louis trip, we also visited Laumeier Sculpture Park and did more tromping around outdoors.  (According to the website, it's pronounced  "Lau" (rhymes with "now")–"meier" (rhymes with "higher").

I hadn't visited before, either, and it was neat - some of the sculptures also change periodically so it would be fun to go back another time, too. There are 70 outdoor sculptures in the 105-acre park, and we took pictures of 3 of them! Ha!

These photos are all from Sam. This piece is called "Crete," by Charles Ginnever, finished in 1978. I liked the way it looked different from different angles as we walked around the park.

This one is "The Way" by Alexander Liberman, finished in 1980.

It's made from eighteen salvaged steel oil tanks.

James, striking a cool pose.

This is (part of) a 12-foot deer by Tony Tasset.

And then here are a couple of photos from the website just to give a better idea of the visit - and also looking through the current collection I see several we didn't get to in person.

The kids were fans of "Eye," also by Tony Tasset:

And I liked "House of the Minotaur," by Tony Rosenthal, 1980, which we saw as we drove in, but didn't walk up to in person:
