Door

Looking out the door is a popular pastime in the Buffaloe household.

Watch James put on progressively more clothes as this post goes on. (We're still playing catch-up!)

Except as soon as he figures out that I'm taking pictures, James turns around and rapid-fire crawls to the camera.

Drawing

Amelie drew eyes, a mouth, and hair on her ghost/monster.

When she was finished, she wanted me to take her picture with it. She wouldn't look at the camera, though.

The Zoo

We were both off work on way back on Columbus Day, so we went to the zoo.

It looks like I took off my earrings by this point.

There were several of these things to stage photos in throughout the zoo (for Halloween, I guess), but we couldn't quite figure them out.

There's our bat!

Where's Dad?

James napped.

Haircut!

Welp, Amelie's first haircut came on her own terms. She was outside cutting tape and then leaves. I was actually watching her do it out the window, but didn't realize what was happening for a while (her back was to me.)

She said, "You were SURPRISED!"

I'm actually a little shocked at how well (?!) she did with the scissors. Stinker.

I think the only word to describe this style would be a mullet.

Sam took her to Cost Cutters to even it up some.

It looks a little bowl-ish (not that there's much they could have done with those bangs!) so I made her an appointment in six weeks at the Groom Room, which is the fancy kids haircut place. (And by fancy, I mean that they have an airplane chair.)

My friend Shauna and I thought it might curl up some after her bath, given Amelie's god-given hair genetics, but not so much. Here are some pictures of the kids this morning at breakfast:

And a view of the back:

My friend Caitlin said that we should just glue it onto  James. (Here's him the morning after the haircut, too.)

Sam thought it was strange, but I did save a lock of her hair.

Steps!

James took 2 independent steps to reach Sam last night while I was at work! I was poised with the camera most of the day, but didn't get any. James did take one step to me, and then when I moved farther away, he took one more step to me and promptly fell down. Maybe we'll have a toddler by Thanksgiving.

Fridge

I finally cleaned out the fridge. James helped.

It looks kind of like he's in a spaceship.

Happy Halloween

Amelie wanted to be a crocodile for Halloween:

I had to teach Thursday night, so Papaw Buffaloe came over to help with trick-or-treating. Sam did all the work (and took all of the pictures).

James went as a skeleton:

She claimed to be a nice crocodile.

She was pretty impressed with her tail, too.

Where's the candy?

Seriously, where?

I'm not sure that crocodiles rawr, but James liked being scared by his sister:

Thanks, Papaw!
